Football is an extremely physically demanding sport that requires high levels of strength, conditioning, agility, flexibility, coordination, and skill to excel at this sport. Due to the high levels of contact during practices and games, athletes need to be over prepared in order to take on a hard hit at any time. Proper strength and conditioning, as well as, sport specific training can assist athletes in preparation for these conditions.
Even with high levels of quality training, during a sport with such high levels of contact, athletes are at an increased risk for accidental injuries. Football players are especially at an increased risk for both upper extremity and lower extremity injuries, ACL tears from quick changes of direction, muscle strains, dislocations, concussions from hard hits, and overuse injuries, etc. The specialists at The Fitness Lab are not only qualified to train these athletes to excel at their sport, but also to rehab the more difficult injuries.
Most players receive great coaching on the field which helps to hone these football specific skills but fail to properly condition the athletes off the field. Lack of overall strength and conditioning leads to muscular imbalances, decreased athletic performance, and increased risk for injury. Our trainers evaluate each athlete by using a functional movement assessment designed to identify each players’ specific strengths and weaknesses.
