Running/Marathon
Training for a 5K, 10K, or a Running/Marathon is a great way to shape but can be extremely physically demanding on your body. The impact forces while running really add-up and can quickly exceed 2x your body weight every step. Throughout a run, you take thousands to tens-of-thousands of steps, which can lead to overcompensation of certain muscle group which predisposes you to overuse injuries. These overuse injuries incurred while running can quickly put an end to a running season and ruin your race goals.
In order to perform your best and avoid these overuse injuries, it’s important to have a well-rounded strength and conditioning program in place that focuses on eliminating muscular imbalances and improving flexibility.
During your initial consultation at the Fitness Lab, you will undergo a full functional assessment designed to identify any musculoskeletal imbalances that you have. Our trainers use the information gathered during your functional assessment to design an individualized functional strength and conditioning program to improve range of motion, flexibility, strength, and endurance while reducing your risk of running-related injuries.
Whether you are thinking about your running your first 5K or are training to run a sub two and a half hour Running/Marathon, the Fitness Lab will help you reach your goals while staying injury-free.
