Medical Bike Fitting
A Comprehensive Process
Medical Consultation: At the outset, our Fitness Lab physical therapists will discuss your medical history, cycling objectives, and any concerns you may have. This includes understanding any existing medical conditions or injuries you may have.
Detailed Physical Evaluation: Our therapists in Highlands Ranch, Parker, Denver and Greenwood Village, CO will carry out an exhaustive analysis of your body’s structural integrity, power, and flexibility, taking into account any existing medical conditions or injuries.
On-Bike Evaluation: Similar to a regular bike fitting process, at Fitness Lab, you’ll be examined while cycling on a stationary trainer. However, our therapists will also identify any signs of discomfort or strain stemming from your medical conditions.
Bike Adjustments: Our therapists will modify your bike setup to accommodate not only your cycling needs but also your specific physical and medical requirements.
Therapeutic Suggestions and Follow-Up: After your fit, you’ll receive tailored exercises or stretches from our physical therapist to help you acclimatize to the new setup, refine your cycling technique, and address any physical issues discovered during the assessment. A follow-up session will be scheduled to reassess and tweak as needed.
Performance Bike Fitting
A Tailored Approach
- Pre-Fit Consultation: Your bike fitter will discuss your cycling history, objectives, and any issues during this initial consultation, thereby setting the stage for the fitting process.
- Physical Evaluation: The bike fitter will analyze your body’s strength, flexibility, and proportions. This may include measurements of leg length, foot structure, hamstring flexibility, hip flexor mobility, sciatic nerve flexibility, etc.
- On-Bike Evaluation: While you cycle on a stationary trainer, the bike fitter will assess your current position by examining your body angles, knee alignment, and foot-pedal interaction.
- Bike Adjustments: Using the information gathered, the fitter will modify your bike setup. This could involve adjusting the saddle height or position, changing the handlebar height or reach, and altering the position of your cleats.
- Fine-Tuning and Follow-Up: Post initial adjustments, the fitter will observe you cycling again to further refine the setup. A follow-up session may be scheduled to assess how you’ve adapted to the changes and make any additional necessary adjustments.
